Kurt E. Heikkila (1955-2026) – Founder
After a career working for DuPont, founding Aspen Research, and developing the Fibrex® material used in Renewal by Andersen® windows, Kurt Heikkila founded Tundra Composites in 2004. His first commercial product introduced by Tundra – a composite automotive wheel balancing weight – now holds the majority OEM market share in North America, and the product can be found on cars and trucks all over the world.
Most of Kurt’s 80+ patents fall within advanced polymers and composites. He was true innovator throughout his career in industry, and his leadership as a colleague, mentor and friend to so many of us at Tundra will never be forgotten. His contributions to our business, as well as in science and the broader community, are significant and enduring.
